On this episode of the pastrycast Alyssa (Salem Historical Society) and Josh (JH Turiel IT and Salem City Councillor) Interview Andy and Jackie King from A&J King Artisan Bakers.
Jackie and Andy King met at the New England Culinary Institute, after which they moved to Portland, ME to pursue their careers in baking. After training at the Standard Baking Co., they decided to move to the North Shore of Massachusetts to try their hand at the bakery business. A&J King Artisan Bakers opened in June of 2006. They have two children, Emaline and Elliot, and a rotating cast of animals living with them. In 2013, they authored their first book, Baking by Hand, and finally got to take a real vacation (unrelated to the book).
In 2017 Andy and Jackie are taking a leap of faith and starting the next chapter of their Salem story as they build and open a brand new expansive location at 135 Boston Street. They have a SUPER interesting and exciting blog where they take their fans on this daunting and exciting journey! https://ajkingbakery.blog/

Late one night after a nice dinner out in Salem MA, we weren’t quite ready to call it a night. “You know what I could go for right now? – a cookie” In that moment we sadly realized that we were out of luck unless we were willing to bake our own.
