Mayor’s Night Out – Fun For The Whole Family

Trick-or-treating, discounts, free museum admissions and parking, and more, Friday October 2, 3:00 p.m.

SALEM, MA – Mayor Kimberley Driscoll, in partnership with Salem’s local attractions, museums, and downtown merchants, is pleased to announce that this Halloween’s “Mayors Night Out” will take place on Friday, October 2, 2015.

Beginning at 3:00 p.m. participating museums and attractions will open free of charge to Salem residents. Residents must provide a photo identification showing proof of Salem residency to gain free admission. Students may use a school identification card, bus pass, or a Salem Public Library card. Please log onto salem.com for a list of participating attractions and their hours of operation.

As part of Mayor’s Night Out the Museum Place Mall Garage and the South Harbor Garage will offer free parking to Salem residents after 4:00 p.m. (proof of residency will be required when you exit the garages).

“Mayor’s Night Out has become a great tradition for Salem residents,” said Mayor Driscoll. “October is a busy time for our businesses and this is their way to say thank you to our citizens, offering a day that lets our locals enjoy Halloween before the crowds arrive.“

Mayor’s Night Out Trick or Treat has become a huge success and all of the merchants look forward to seeing our little ones all dressed up. Trick-or-treating will begin at the big fountain by the Museum Place Mall at 5:30 p.m. and continue down the Essex Street Pedestrian Mall and around the shops in the Museum Place Mall. Then families can venture on their own and visit other participating businesses elsewhere across the downtown (check salem.com for complete listing). Trick or Treat bags will be provided by the Salem Witch Museum and costumes are encouraged!

New this year, Mad Professors James Eric Rogers and Lucas Custer will be helping little ones make Scary Hands – only for those children who are not afraid – at the Salem Arts Center at 179 Essex Street from 5:00 p.m. –to 7:00 p.m.

Also, Captain Jack, Salem’s favorite pirate, will be entertaining kids at the big fountain on the Mall from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
